Dana King

Owner and Research Consultant

Dana King is a research consultant specializing in historical information for homes and commercial properties in the Toronto area. Her company, Every House Tells A Story, is one of the first dedicated to researching the histories of Toronto homes.

Her industry experience includes over 15 years of genealogy research. She also studied Genealogy at the National Institute for Genealogical Studies. Dana put this experience to work while successfully researching her childhood home in the neighbourhood of Summerhill, and quickly discovered a passion for house histories.

She began her company in 2003 and has since completed dozens of successful reports on the history of homes and commercial in the Toronto Area. She is a member of Heritage Toronto, the Ontario Genealogical Society, the Association of Professional Genealogists and sits on the Board of the York Pioneer and Historical Society. She continues to develop her knowledge of Toronto neighbourhoods with every new research project.

Many people think the information is available on the web; however; less than 10% of my work takes place on the internet." She puts this knowledge to work through extensive use of Toronto's archives, libraries, land records and other repositories.
